Day 8 Monterey to Pacifica

Another morning sleeping in until after eight... We found our way down to Fisherman's Wharf and had breakfast overlooking the marina listening to the sea lions. Walked the tourist traps and enjoyed the Monterey experience. We checked out at 11 and continued up the coast to Santa Cruz. While stopping for gas I decided to try to address a potential issue with the bike, as the chain noise had become increasingly concerning. We found All American of Santa Cruz who was nothing short of amazing. We purchased a tinted shield for Ans's helmet and a new chain which they installed while we waited, nothing but great things to say about them, they really went above and beyond to help us out... Now that the bike was back to normal we continued up the coast expecting an easy ride to Pacifica where we had booked a night at an inn overlooking the water. When we were about 10 mile from the inn we saw signs about a road closure at Devils Slide, aptly named since it was closed due to a rock slide. This caused up to backtrack about 10 miles to an alternate route that everyone and their brother was also taking... The most traffic that we had encountered today... We finally made the inn around 5:30, walked the shops a bit (found some great local 9.5% beer and the crazy lady at the counter..), and then had a great meal at the restaurant in the hotel. After dinner we went down to the dark sand beach and watched the surf along with the fishermen trying to catch the same striped bass that we have back home. We retired back to the room to type this and finish the 9.5% beer that we bought earlier....
