Day 5 Utah, Arizona and Nevada

After breakfast at Denny's in Salina we hopped on the bike and our first destination was going to be Bryce Canyon about 100 miles away. Very scenic ride through canyons and some depressing towns until we arrived in the area. Red Canyon was first, turn the corner and there it was... Impressive. Fiften miles down the road was Bryce canyon and that truly was amazing. We rode through the park stopping at most of the scenic view points, took a few photos and moved on. The original plan was for us to go to the Nort Rim of the Grand Canyon and then on to Las Vegas but the lure of Sin City was too much so we opted to skip the Canyon and head to Vegas. After the night we had in Salina, that morning we made reservations at the Luxor in Vegas as we wanted to be assured a quality place for the night... After leaving Bryce we were enjoying a rain free day of riding, until off in the distance we saw a thunderstorm that was pretty active. We were hoping that it would stay to the west of us and we could skrit by with just some passing sprinkles, but the GPS was telling us we had a turn to the west approaching.... At the turn, we stopped for gas, donned our rain gear, and then the rain started. After about 20 minutes it lightened up a bit and looked as if it had passed, so off we went. The route was through Dixie State Forest and we had a climb to about 10,000 feet... About halfway up, the hail started... Lots of fun... Our rain gear worked well but the temp at the top was high 40's to low 50's, very cold... Once we started our decent, the sun came out and the temp started to climb. It took about an hour to wind our way to the bottom to the exit of the canyon. We turned the corner and there was the desert... Someone flipped a switch and suddenly the temp was in the 100's and we were 150 miles from Vegas. Other than very hot and a minor sand storm it was an uneventful ride. We pulled into Vegas about 5pm, walked the strip for a bit, ate dinner at New York, New York and spent the rest of the night at the Luxor. The only photos in Vegas were two from Ans's cell phone, we were to busy sinning to take more photos....
